The survey was conducted by CFA Society Italy, in collaboration with Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor, among its members in the period 18-31 December 2023.
60% of the participants consider the current situation of the Italian economy to be stable, about 36% consider the Italian economy to be in a negative condition, while 4% point to a positive situation.
In terms of expectations for the next six months, 20% of respondents expect an improvement in macroeconomic conditions (+4.6 points compared to last month), 28% estimate unchanged conditions (-2.8% compared to the last survey) and 52% expect a worsening (-1.8 points compared to last month). The difference between those who are optimistic about the outlook for the Italian economy compared to pessimists is -32, the value that represents the “CFA Society Italy - Radiocor Sentiment Index” for the month of January 2024.
The figure remains in negative territory but still rises by 6.5 points, a further recovery from last October’s absolute minimum, i.e. -75.
