Italian CFA®-certified professional investors' expectations of the Italian economy continue to deteriorate. The Sentiment Index, which measures their optimism or pessimism, fell to -48 points, down from the last survey. The survey was conducted by CFA Society Italy, in collaboration with Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor, among its members in the period 19 - 31 August 2024.
It shows an increase in the percentage of respondents who perceive the current economic situation in Italy positively, to 12%. However, around 24% of respondents see the country's economic situation as negative. The US shows an overall positive macroeconomic picture.
Looking at the next six months, only 8% of respondents expect economic conditions to improve (down 12 points from last month), while 36% expect the situation to remain stable (down 4 points). As many as 56% expect a worsening (up 16 points from the previous month). As a result, the overall index, which reflects the difference between optimists and pessimists, fell to -48, representing the ‘CFA Society Italy - Radiocor Sentiment Index’ for September 2024, a drop of 28 points compared to August.
Expectations for the Eurozone and the US over the next six months also deteriorated.
