18:45 Back to the future in 2023? A macroeconomic outlook

In 2021 the macroeconomic environment of the world changed. After more than a decade of low inflation rates, zero and even negative interest rates and extremely high liquidity, we traveled in time to the 1970s and 1980s, the years of the “great inflation”. Central banks acted delayed but strongly with interest rates increases, hoping to tame inflation and not cause too hard collateral damages. In recent months inflation rates have been coming down and markets have been recovering. Is the inflation time over? Might we come back to the future, a time of low interest and inflation rates?  We will discuss the macroeconomic outlook for the rest of 2023 and discuss possible answers.
